Exploring choice: Dilation and Evacuation Abortion (D&E) of a 23 Week Old Fetus

When talking about abortion, it is important to know exactly the type of procedure, just like anything to realise what you are actually talking about.

This diagram shows the procedure of a D&E abortion. First, the body parts are grasped at random with a long toothed clamp. Next, the body parts are pulled from the fetal body out of the vaginal canal. Then, the remaining body parts are grasped and pulled out. Then the head is grasped and crushed in order to remove it from the vaginal canal. The placenta and remaining contents are suctioned from the uterus.
