Dr. Ed Peters knows canon law. Whoopi Goldberg knows cliches.

H/T to Insight Scoop and CatholicVote.org on this.

What you are about to witness in this clip are people commenting on a subject that they a) do not know anything or much about and b) do not take seriously.

Those who know and understand that the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, is really and truly present under the accidents of bread and wine are more than likely going to disagree with Dr. Peters. For the position expressed by Dr. Ed Peters is one that is clearly mentioned in Scripture:

Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself.

— 1 Corinthians 11:27-29

This is the point of the issue. Cuomo and any other person who “eats and drinks…in an unworthy manner” does so at their own peril. Not because some are sinners and other are not but because partaking in this sacrilegious act demonstrates that the so-called communicant is not in full communion with the Church and her Bridegroom Jesus Christ.

An Open Letter to Our Government: Abolish the Slavery of Abortion

Below is the opening text from a recent post over at Catholic Online. It is simply a very powerful, well written argument against the slavery and genocide of abortion.

Abortion is a merciless and bloody master and the preborn child is its slave

President Obama, Members of Congress, and the Justices of the Supreme Court: You have the power, this very day, to end the scourge of abortion on demand in America. You have the power, this very day, to protect the rights of our children to be born. You have the power, this very day, to uphold the humanity of every child in the womb. If you refuse to do it, it is not because you lack the understanding or the means, but because you lack honor, honesty and the will.

More Corporations Withdraw Support for Planned Parenthood

…the past few months have brought an unusually high number of corporations that have withdrawn their support for the abortion behemoth.

In fact, eleven companies were on the July 2010 list that have now ceased supporting Planned Parenthood.

Those corporations that have withdrawn support for Planned Parenthood include:

Cisco Systems, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare, Enterprise, Forbes, Franchise Services, ING, Red Lion Hotels, Rolex, Toys ‘R’ Us, Kenneth Cole, and Trader Joe’s.

This is the highest number of companies ever withdrawing support of Planned Parenthood between updates of the Boycott List.

……….

The latest edition of the Boycott List can be ordered online from Life Decisions International.

This is particularly good news for those of us who try our best to patronize organizations that are responsible with the money we hand over to them.

Aquinas and More Catholic Bookstore: Twelve Days of Christmas Charity Campaign

It is always great to know that one can put their faith in action simply by shopping…

Each year for the past… okay, I don’t remember how many years, we have had special one-day sales for each day of the Twelve Days of Christmas. Yes, all of the “Twelve Days of Christmas” sales leading up to Christmas are nothing but marketing. They have nothing to do with the REAL Twelve Days.

This year we decided to do something different. All of our IN STOCK Advent and Christmas products will be on sale for 45% off from December 26th through Epiphany but we aren’t going to have specials each day.

Instead, we are going to give a portion of all sales made each day to a charity that in some way corresponds with the  memorial celebrated that day. Since today is Christmas Day, we will be starting tomorrow with the Feast of St. Stephen.

We are going to be donating 10% of all of our sales tomorrow to the Serra Club. The Serra Club, unlike the Sierra Club, is a Catholic organization dedicated to promoting and supporting vocations.

There are still ten more days of Christmas remaining. We have already chosen some organizations to donate to but would love to get your advice on the rest. Please leave responses on our Facebook page or on our blog. We’ll make our choices from your recommendations and give gift certificates to those who suggest the ones we choose!

  • Dec 26: St. Stephen – our local Serra Club (Catholic vocation club)
  • Dec 27: St. John the Evangelist – [Star Quest Production Network]
  • Dec 28: Holy Innocents – our local crisis pregnancy center
  • Dec 29: Thomas Becket – ???
  • Dec 30: Holy Family – C-FAM
  • Dec 31: St. Sylvester – ???
  • Jan 1: Solemnity of Mary
  • Jan 2: St. Basil – Aid to the Church in Need
  • Jan 3: Holy Name of Jesus – ???
  • Jan 4: St. Elizabeth Anne Seton – ???
  • Jan 5: St. John Neumann – ???
