Free Catholic Bible Study

“The following may be helpful for seminary students, religious professor/faculty- teachers, any Catholic students taking  religious education classes,  and also may be of use in helping priests prepare sermons for Gospels readings of the day using Catholic commentaries, and church Fathers quotes, religious Education Directors and CCD Teachers, and of course it may be useful for any Catholic in learning more about their faith, Scripture etc…..”

Mary, Ark of the New Covenant

Here is an interesting and quick description by former Baptist Steve Ray on how Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant:

Mary, Ark of the New Covenant

Here is [Steve Ray’s] article on Mary the New Ark, and here is [Steve Ray’s] collection of what the early Christian taught on Mary the Ark.

Now, notice the two pictures below: Do you notice the parallels? What is similar to each picture?

First, the glory of God is revealed “above” both arks (the Gold Box and Mary).

In the first, the glory is revealed as the Shekinah Glory Cloud; in the second, the glory of God is revealed in his Son Jesus Christ, God Incarnate.

Do we worship the Ark? No, of course not! Jews didn’t worship the Old Ark, nor do Catholics worship the New Ark. Jews did not worship the box and Catholics do not worship Mary. Jews worshiped what was ABOVE the box — which was the presence of God; Catholics worship what is above the Ark, that which is sitting in Mary’s lap. Both Jews and Catholics venerate and appreciate the ark, but the worship is reserved for what it contains and reveals.

Dancing With Angels

As I was going through my very long list of unread blog posts in Google Reader, I came across a post that certaily leaves any faithful Christian a bittersweet taste in their mouths; a Catholic Apologist whose blog I follow posted on his blog that he and his wife recently lost their 22-year-old daughter.

From what I read on his post, God seemingly put the following poem on his heart:

Of the Judgment His Holy Word says no man shall know the hour,
But that time has come for our Little Flower.
Her life endured through many trials,
But to all who knew her, she provided smiles.
She saw the world from within her chair,
Now she’s dancing with angels – without a care.
We were given her for a time according to His plan,
God still watches over our Julianne.

CathApol: Dancing With Angels.

The line that is in bold will be placed on her marker.

The video above was also  posted on his blog. Please view the video and pray the repose of Julianne’s soul and for those she left behind. In addition, let us take these moments to recall the passing of our own loved ones and to pray for their souls ans the souls of all the departed.

Liturgical Abuses: Mocking Christ on Calvary

This is by far one of the most infuriating and sad videos I have ever seen.

Part of what frustrates me is most certainly the fact that liturgical abuse is a shame and a crime. To mock what God did/does for us at Calvary is just mind boggling. But the worst part is that many continue to place the blame on the documents that came out of Vatican II.

If we, as faithful Catholics, profess and believe in the infallibility and unity of the Church then we must understand that what came out of the Vatican II was not bad – it was ruined. Men always have a tendency to screw things up thus the reason why God took flesh for our salvation. And this is the reason why a new translation is coming out in this new 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal. This is the proper response from Rome – correct the poor implementation in charity relying on God’s timing.
